Pretty awesome day today.
First, Dean and Severin pretty much single handedly removed and installed all the new reno style windows...14 of them...done. Amazing. Pictured is our original ensuite bathroom window which is the only place any form of what looks a little like mold existed. It's all sanded down and will get a fresh coat of paint, and the new window is installed and tight.
These windows are from VanIsle Windows and they are so nice for a project like this. Great company and great products!
The old single pane windows.
These are the new windows installed, siliconed, screwed, trimmed and basically complete.
While that was happening the Harbour City Kitchen truck showed up with all our cabinets. Installation to begin middle of next week. If you're thinking about a kitchen reno make sure to check this company out :-)
I completed the boys room, except for a couple plugs on the wall, and put the bunkbeds back where we originally had them as it was decided that was the best place for them to begin with. I agree.
The baseboard trim is getting close to done. It really is amazing. So glad we repurposed this wood throughout the house. It truly gives it a warm soothing feeling throughout.
I installed these cool new light fixtures above the breakfast bar. They're LED's and look like recessed lights (potlights), but all they really are is the finish trim which fit inside a regular box. So, for those of you who wish you would've installed potlights, but didn't, there's an option for you now. They are, well, super bright, so I'm glad they are dimmable and have a dimmer that I will install shortly.
Also, a pretty cool feature that my electrical buddy from Riverside Systems in Abbotsford suggested we do in our Mudroom is install a motion sensor above the door so when we open our back door the lights automatically turn on. As well, when we enter the Mudroom from the Living Room it does the same. Hands full of groceries or sleeping children? No big deal...lights will just turn on by themselves.
